We've all done it! You needed a word from the Lord, so you went to….Google.
There's no shame. Even Paul would pull out scripture with the preface, "Somewhere in the Bible, it is written…" (my paraphrase).
There are times when you are praying or thinking about something, and Google is a convenient, quick way to find the reference just at the tip of your tongue. But, did you know God wants to "google" your heart?
In the same way you can have a quickened thought and launch a quick search to get the word to back it up, the Lord wants to sift through the contents of your heart so He can quicken THE NOW WORD that you need for victory in that moment.
As James so brilliantly pointed out in his webinar on Waging Spiritual Warfare: That's exactly how He worked with Jesus!
When Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tested by the devil, He had an arsenal of truth in His heart with which to combat the devil's twisted schemes.
How was Jesus victorious? He said, "It is written…"
It's interesting to note that every test Satan threw at Jesus were based on the promises God had spoken about Jesus, but were twisted out of sync with the timing and ways of the Lord.
Jesus didn't just need a word.
He needed the QUICKENED WORD that came from the Holy Spirit!
That is how you will be victorious, too. When you know the Word (not just familiarity, or a google search away), but when it is hidden in your heart through meditation and study, then out of the abundance of your heart your mouth will speak. You will declare what Jesus did, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
THAT WORD from the arsenal stored in your heart will be quickened by the Holy Spirit. It will no longer be a "logos" word waiting for activation, but a "rhema" word ignited with the light and power of heaven.
When you speak it, it will become a two-edged sword that shatters darkness and chases the enemy off!
The key is laying a foundation of Scripture so the Holy Spirit has something to work with!
