There's a lot of bustle in today's world about what truth is and a lot of struggle to get there. But if we are rooted in the true love of God, then we can speak the truth in a way that has real meaning.
Think about this for a moment. On the day Jesus stood trial before Pilate, He didn't get into an argument over whether the charges brought against Him are true.
Instead, He says, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice" (John 18:37).
I don't know about you, but if I were being tried in a court of law and had a death sentence hanging over my head, I would have a few more words to say than this!
In the middle of a murderous attack of false accusations, lies, and betrayals, Jesus didn't defend Himself. He didn't quibble over the way His words were twisted, or the injustice of His arrest, or even the blatant lies of His enemies...
...but He claimed to bear witness to the truth.
